Audiometry – 2‑Day Competency Course

Our two-day audiometry competency course introduces the principles of workplace hearing conservation programmes. It provides the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently perform screening audiometry, including evaluation and categorisation of results.
The course is accredited by the British Society of Audiology (BSA) and aligned with the HSE Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2021). Content is based on the BSA Surveillance Audiometry Guidelines and the HSE L108 document.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of acoustics and the anatomy and physiology of the ear.
- Understand hearing loss, relevant legislation, and factors affecting testing accuracy.
- Conduct a full audiological assessment, including questionnaires, otoscopy, subject instruction, and manual pure tone air‑conduction testing.
- Accurately interpret audiometric data and categorise results in line with HSE 2005 guidance.
- Provide appropriate advice on the use of PPE.
- Organise and operate an effective audiometry surveillance programme, including GDPR‑compliant record management and audit preparation.
- Understand equipment maintenance requirements to ensure consistent and accurate screening.
