Our one-day audiometry refresher course combines theory and practical learning to support high-quality hearing screening in the workplace. It is ideal for those looking to refresh or enhance their skills and knowledge in occupational audiometry.
Developed and delivered by our Clinical Manager and Vice Chair of the British Society of Audiology (BSA), this course provides expert-led training aligned with current best practice.
Designed specifically for occupational health and primary care professionals, the course supports accurate hearing assessment and effective hearing surveillance for employees exposed to noise.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of acoustics and the anatomy and physiology of the ear.
- Understand types of hearing loss, relevant legislation, and factors that affect testing accuracy.
- Carry out a complete audiological assessment, including a preparatory questionnaire, otoscopy, subject instruction, and manual pure tone air‑conduction testing.
- Confidently interpret audiometric data and understand its implications for client health, including categorisation in line with HSE 2005 guidance.
- Advise clients on the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Organise and manage an audiometric surveillance programme, including GDPR‑compliant record keeping, data retrieval, and standard audiometric audits.
- Understand essential equipment maintenance required for accurate and reliable hearing screening.
